 Artist Joseph Milazzo has brought his distinctive style to New Orleans for a new series depicting his time spent living and working in The Big Easy. After his first successful art show in his native Brooklyn, New York, Milazzo sought to change his working environment and experience a new city, new people and ultimately hoped to find new inspiration.
Milazzo’s goal was to present an honest account of the people and places that struck him most. As he explains, trying to capture these images forced him to consider his surroundings with greater awareness. “New Orleans will provide no shortage of subject matter for an artist. There's so much to take in, so it ultimately comes down to recognizing those moments that truly resonate. Once that becomes clear I can then turn to the task of committing them to canvas.” With 11 pieces completed in a 5 month period, Milazzo’s hope is that these paintings will serve as a visual record of his time in the Crescent City.
